ALOHA,

QUESTIONING THE MOTIVES BEHIND THE SLOGAN- "KEEP THE COUNTRY COUNTRY" BY SACRIFICING THE MOST PRODUCTIVE AGRICULTURAL LAND ON THE EWA PLAIN SO THAT AGRICULTURAL LAND OF LESSER PRODUCTIVITY ELSEWHERE ON THE ISLAND CAN REMAIN

Watch the two-part video that captures Dr. Kioni Dudley of Save Oahu Farmlands help convince the Council as to what lands grow the most food and to get resolution 12-23 amended to a CD1 FD1 to do the following:

The resolution directs the new Agricultural Liaison, Ms. Laura Thielen, to identify and map important agricultural lands. However, the resolution was to exclude identifying land within Urban Growth Boundaries- meaning, some of the most productive agricultural land was going to be omitted from the mapping process. The tag team approach between Dr. Dudley and myself helped orchestrate an amendment to the resolution whereby prime agricultural lands will be included in the mapping regardless if the land is within the Urban Growth Boundary or not.
