ALOHA,

WILL THERE BE RAIL ON BALLOT BY PETITION MECHANISM?

Since the City Council took a position it does not want to put rail on the ballot this election- to let you decide, to let you have the final say, you have the opportunity to override the council and put rail on the ballot by petition.

The question to voters would need to propose that the "All Fixed Guideway" is being prohibited. If the majority for example, voted yes to prohibiting the "All Fixed Guideway," this would stop the rail project and render HART null and void. To get to that point, a petition would have to be turned in to the City Clerk by June 26, 2012 and contain 46,650 valid signatures.

To initiate a Special Election, 69,675 valid signatures would have to be presented to the City clerk.

JUNE 6 COUNCIL AGENDA IS NOW POSTED

This is it- the final reading on four rail bills- Bills 31, 32, 33 and 37. If you are against funding this rail project, please consider clicking on the agenda here for more information and please do testify. To read each measure, just click on the agenda and then click on the resolution or bill number of interest.

The budget bill (Bill 14) contains $70,000.00 to teach adults how to ride a bicycle. I have introduced a Floor Amendment to object to this expenditure- read it here.

The budget does contain many good things for our Council District and after the bill's passage, I will provide you with a full report.
