ALOHA,

Two more resolutions that our office introduced passed the city council yesterday - unanimously. That makes 21 resolutions thus far that have passed - averaging one resolution a month since I took office that we have championed for you. Please note that all 21 resolutions that have been adopted that we introduced have passed the city council unanimously - every single one . . . not one no vote was ever cast against us.

The two resos adopted yesterday were:

12-269
Urging congress to do something about labor unions “influencing” elections with their no limit to the amount of campaign contributions . . . the existence/purpose of labor unions used to be about improving the workplace for its workers, now, its about buying politicians and elections.

12-305
Urging our Governor to investigate the elections from last week and report the findings. I simply could not sit idle and remain silent about the follies that transpired with the Office of Elections. Thus, this reso serves as a statement - a means to get on the record, that the city council is taking a stand and is not acting with complacency.

Before I leave office, I have one last bill in the works still alive. Bill 57 FD1 was deliberated on yesterday at length . . . a very emotional issue for all of us. The council passed my measure - on Second Reading, and now it goes back to my committee that I chair - Parks and Cultural Affairs for amendments. The bill will be heard November 27, at 10:30 a.m., Honolulu Hale. If it passes out of committee, it will go for final (Third Reading) before the council on December 5.
